Photo Presentation Slideshows

An increasingly popular idea at wedding receptions is to display a photo slide show presentation during dinner or sometimes before dinner is served.  Most couples will start their presentation with photos of the bride when she was a young girl and the groom as a young boy progressing through the years until they meet each other.  The slideshow normally has a few short song clips playing throughout and generally speaking, most people enjoy the show.  However, some couples tend to put dozens upon dozens of photos into the slideshow and they can get a bit lengthy which can lead to diminishing the energy of your reception.   Tips and suggestions follow.

Here are some tips on how to put together a slide show presentation that will be a success:

  1. Keep the photos flowing. No need to put in lengthy pauses on each photo...you are trying to create a snap shot of memories.
  2. Don't pick out too many photos!  Sure, every picture looks like a great one to you but remember that half the people at your reception are from the side of your fiance and have no recollection of many of these memories.
  3. Keep it under 10 minutes. You cannot display a half hour of television and expect people to be completely interested during the whole thing.  Remember - you are trying to display great high-lights in your life and relationship.
  4. Pick out music that people know.  You and your fiance know your favorite song tracks but will your guests?  Choosing to use classic and popular favorites will help create excitement to your presentation because people can relate to something with which they are familiar.
